Our clients wanted a show-stopper gourmet kitchen with an expansive wet bar. They wanted to add more storage space and transform what had become a sitting area back into a dining room. They love to cook and spend a lot of time in the kitchen. They knew they wanted Wolf appliances so one of our challenges was designing a functional space around some rather large pieces like their 6-burner gas stove and hood and large refrigerator while avoiding looking like a restaurant kitchen. Another challenge was working around two special needs children, noise being one of the things that bothered them most. We packed our patience and set off to make this a kitchen the whole family would enjoy.

Their family gathers in the kitchen, so we felt it needed two islands. We reduced the height of the raised bar to expand their countertop width, which opened up the flow into the dining room. We added a wall of cabinetry in the dining room to tie the space into the kitchen including a wet bar, wine cooler, coffee station and lots of storage. We added mullion glass door (with LED lighting inside) wall cabinets to soften the look and keep their kitchen from looking so industrial. They chose a white shaker style cabinet, but with softer edges and a bit more detail than traditional shaker style cabinets, grey island cabinets, and Alaskan White granite countertops. We also refinished all of the hardwood flooring with a darker stain.

A challenge occurred when we were nearing the end of this renovation. While the plumber was connecting the icemaker line, he moved the refrigerator, the very heavy Wolf refrigerator, which left gouges/track marks in our newly refinished floors. Our flooring guy had to sand and refinish a portion of the kitchen floors over again. However, a few days later we were back on track to making this a kitchen for all to enjoy.

Our clients are most pleased with their investment and were already bickering over who gets to cook first! That’s a winner in our book.

“Leo Lantz did two impeccable jobs for us this year – a complete gut remodel of our master bathroom and more recently a complete remodel of our kitchen. I can say without question that we wouldn’t hire anyone else to do remodeling in our home – Leo’s attention to detail and his immense, hands-on knowledge of how to handle every aspect of a remodeling job makes him stand out way above anyone else in our opinion. We are beyond pleased with our master bathroom and gourmet kitchen and can highly recommend him without hesitation.”
